I have many leather bound books, and my appartment smells of rich mohagany.

Pretentiousness. It seems as if at this point in my life, i am completely surrounded by pretentious people, and i have no idea why. It bothers me to no end when people say things, when they plan their sentences, so people will think they are cool or sophisticated or fucking fantastic. I don't understand why people can't just be content with thinking that they are special, why do we have to hear about it, and tell you that you are special? Isn't it enough to know for yourself?

There are some people i am friends with who have this particular affliction. I think why i am only noticing it now is because everyone is freaking out over the stress of hearing back from colleges, questioning what they will do with their lives, and basically wondering who the fuck they are. It seems that this brings out the pretentiousness in everyone. They ( i'm generalizing this little rant because the last thing i need right now is more drama in my life) "casually" bring up in conversation something that makes them look ironic, in an " i listen to bright eyes and wear skinny jeans" kind of way, or say things that they think will make them look impressive. What i don't understand is why they think we care which drugs they have done or who they have jammed with in their basement? i'm sorry but the fact of the matter is as hard as you try, you would be a lot more impressive if you didnt tell us how impressive you are.

Another example. Someone, who is in their 30s, so you would think they would have outgrown this high school bragging crap, that i know feels the need to express their great wealth of knowlege everytime they open their mouth:

Me: "I just bought the new Kings of Leon cd. I love it. you should get it"
Her: "I've had that on my Ipod for like months. i liked them before anyone else did."

Me: "I'm really excited they are making a movie out of that michael Chabon book."
Her: "Michael Chabon, he wrote Yiddish Policemens Union and Kavalier and Clay. I've read all his books."

ughhh. grow up!

watch this and youll know what i mean:
